k6 Work
This month, I’ve been more involved with the product direction of k6 browser, with the first task of creating a Product DNA to detail how k6 browser will run as part of Grafana Cloud k6. I have to admit that I experienced imposter syndrome earlier because I haven’t had formal experience with product work! However, I was overthinking it too much, and now we have a great start on the direction for k6 browser.
I also worked on adding documentation for the k6 browser Page API. Please let me know if you spot any issues or raise them as part of the k6-docs repository.
Paul Balogh and I also discussed schema testing with k6 on one of the Office Hours episodes. If you're interested in watching it, the video is added below.
We've also accepted Rafał Krząpa and Sarah Zipkin, two amazing contributors, to the k6 Champions program. 🙌🏼
Finally, I caught up with one of our k6 Champions, Ioannis Papadakis, during my trip to Athens and talked about his champion activities.
Community Work/Side Projects
There were a lot of speaking engagements this month. I gave a talk at Global Testers Summit 2023 about A Hybrid Approach to Performance Testing and also did a workshop with Live2Test about Performance Testing 101.
I also visited GWI in Athens to give an in-person talk about The Psychology of Web Performance. Then finally, I spoke at Ministry of Testing Athens to also talk about a hybrid approach to performance testing.
From Adobo and Avocados, Nicole and I recorded two episodes. First, we spoke with Rafaela Azevedo to discuss how she got started in testing. Then, we talked about intersectionality in tech. You can find the two episodes below! 😊
I also spoke with Marcel Veselka and Juraj Žabka to talk about how I got started in tech, my experience of becoming a Cypress Ambassador, and finally, transitioning to k6 as a Developer Advocate.
Finally, I made some progress this month in writing parts of the first chapter of my joint book with Lewis Prescott. 🙌🏻
Personal Development
🏋🏻♀️ My average step count was about similar to last month’s, although I think it could have been higher if I had not forgotten my Apple Watch charger when we went to Athens. This month was also more active, and we went on a hike around Box Hill in Surrey. I am also participating again in a 45-day challenge from F45 and also signed up to do the F45 playoffs next month. 🙌🏼
🍎 Still doing the 80/20 healthy eating rule.
📚 I finished Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport this month and enjoyed reading this a lot! I'm not on most social media platforms anymore, but I still use my phone often. So this month, I've set a plan to reduce my phone usage, and there's been an improvement. I'll continue and make more effort to do leisure activities instead. I have also started reading Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker.
🎧 Continuously listened to various podcast episodes this month.
🗣 I'm continuing my Spanish lessons in Duolingo. I'm now on day 276 🎉

Hey Marie! Thanks for always sharing so useful insights about your continuous learning process.. it's really inspiring. I follow your content from long ago, became a Cypress fan like 4 or 5 years ago, and your content during your Cypress Ambassador period was always helpful... I am a C# backend developer who got tired of developing product and found out that I was made for testing... Keep up the good work and the great content!!
