Month in Review: April 2023

Updated: Jun 6, 2023

The word April with pink flowers in the background

It's been a short month for me due to the Easter holidays and being sick, but here's a wrap of what I've done for May.

k6 Work

Starting with some great news, we've officially launched the landing page for hybrid performance testing. This positions our k6 browser module as a core offering within k6 and communicates the limitations of only doing protocol-level load testing on a website and the limitations of only doing frontend performance.

I've also been working on a comprehensive blog post comparing k6 browser and Google Lighthouse, which should be published in the Grafana blog end of May or the first week of June.

Our k6 documentation has also been updated to move k6 browser as part of the experimental modules section rather than having it as a separate section. General guides on how to use the k6 browser are also now part of the k6 guides section.

Community Work/Side Projects

This month, I was invited to speak at Global Testers Summit 2023, which will be held on the 15th and 16th of May, 2023. The speaker lineup looks great, so register at the event if you wish to attend virtually.

I'm also pleased to share that I'll deliver a keynote at AutomationSTAR, which will be held in Berlin this November 2023. I can see a few familiar faces already as part of the program, and I'm looking forward to connecting with people I've met and new faces as well! 😊

Personal Development

🏋🏻‍♀️ My average step count was similar to last month's. There were a few days when I couldn't hit my daily step goal because I was really ill and I was sleeping most of the time.

However, I was proud of myself for being active all throughout the Easter holiday break, especially during our Ibiza trip. I am still keeping up with attending F45 workouts, although, I had a long break due to being ill.

A breakdown of my monthly average steps in April 2023 which was 15,529 steps.

🍎 Still doing the 80/20 healthy eating rule.

📚 This month, I finished Atomic Habits by James Clear and have also started reading Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. Like most people, my smartphone usage on a daily basis is quite high and I'm looking to reduce my daily usage! I'm only on the first few chapters but it looks promising already.

🎧 Continuously listened to various podcast episodes this month.

🗣 I'm continuing my Spanish lessons in Duolingo. I'm now on day 244 🎉

April Favourites

  • Easter break holiday with Gabby. It was our first time in Ibiza! 🏝️

  • Going to Pancake Art Cafe (though it's pretty expensive!)

  • Trying out Three Uncles at Camden Town (highly recommend, especially their three meats option)

  • Watched Evil Dead Rise spontaneously

  • Lots of decluttering this month and donated items that we're not using to my local charity shop.
